Drugs Policy

abiter Property Solutions recognises that alcohol or drug related problems are a form of illness and will treat any situation with professionalism and diplomacy at all times.

Any member of staff who has knowledge or suspicion that a tenant or other members of the household are using illegal substances or is suspected of supplying drugs to others, has a legal duty to inform the Directors of the company with immediate effect.

The Director then has a legal duty to inform the Senior Temporary Accommodation Manager at the specific housing authority with immediate effect.

Strategy

Any concerns are logged on the ‘Confidential Incident Logging Form’ which remains with the Directors of the company at all times.

The Authority must be informed on the day the concerns are raised and a copy of the incident form sent marked ‘Strictly Confidential’.

Confidentiality is of utmost importance at all times, and the matter should not be discussed elsewhere.

Once the local authority has been informed it has a legal duty to investigate following their own procedures and guidelines, and keeping abiter Property Solutions informed of any progress in the matter.

All referrals must be taken seriously by all parties.

Training of Managers in the Implementation of this Policy

Where required Managers and Inspection staff will attend training courses to equip them with knowledge and understanding of alcohol and drugs, and have the ability to recognise where there may be a problem, and to act accordingly.

The confidentiality policy and procedures should be adhered to at all stages of this procedure without fail.
