Health & Safety Company Policy

abiter Property Solutions has a policy to safeguard the health, safety and welfare of all its employees by every means reasonably practicable.

We are committed to reviewing and improving health and safety, and to overcoming the restraints which are imposed upon us.

We also recognise the necessity for stringent monitoring of health and safety because of the constraints and the level of our business, and will ensure that both these safety reviews and the close scrutiny of our standards are a priority.

Health and safety is a concern which ranks with all other business objectives. With all other objectives, it is the responsibility of the General Manager and his/her management team to ensure that all aspects of this policy are compiled with for legal, operational and business reasons.

All Managers understand their specific responsibilities for health and safety within their department and will ensure that adequate health and safety requirements are known and adhered to at all times by their employees.

Additionally, individual employees have a responsibility for carrying out the company’s policy. This entails familiarising themselves with this policy, observing regulations concerning all aspects of health and safety and fire prevention and co-operating with their implementation.

All employees have a duty to take reasonable care for health and safety of themselves and others, and to report any potential or actual dangerous situations. It is vital that such instances are communicated to the General Manager or Operations Manager who are also the Health and Safety representatives. In addition, staff must ensure that they report all accidents, however minor or trivial they appear at the time, to their Manager or one of the above. Following this communication any accident must then be reported in the Accident Book which is located with the First Aid box.

This policy will be executed as follows:

The senior manager or supervisor at a place of work will be responsible for the Health and Safety of the employees within his or her jurisdiction, and will ensure that the company’s Health and Safety policy is carried out. The failure of his or her carrying out such action, or to meet the required standards will result in their being held accountable.

On those sites or areas where no immediate supervision is available or required, this responsibility is passed on to the individual working on such sites or areas. They are to contact the main office when, or if, such problems arise that require knowledge or skills which can be regarded as being outside their normal expectations or experience.

To achieve the objectives of this policy all managers and/or supervisors will ensure that the following actions are carried out:

preventative action is taken against reoccurrence.

In the carrying out of the Company’s business the work will be so organised as to prevent, as far as is reasonably practical, environmental damage caused by such items as noise, dust, waste etc. Also effective precautions will be taken to protect occupiers of adjacent land or buildings and the general public from any danger, discomfort, disturbance, trespass or nuisance.

In line with the carrying out of this policy the hiring of contractors and sub-contractors, account will be taken of their commitment to Health and Safety in general, and to their Health and Safety in particular.

All members of staff will be expected to be aware and to comply with this policy.
